Looking back with clear hindsight, I wanted to share some of the things that helped me win a 20 year battle with depression. More importantly, to try and rank them all in terms of what I got out of them and how effective they were relative to how much time and resources they required.
If I could go back in time, this is where I would have steered myself in the beginning to speed things up.
Let me be clear- these are simply my personal opinions and reflections and are not any sort of professional evaluation of therapy, antidepressants, etc. If you're in a significant depressive state, seek help from a therapist or physician immediately.
Everyone's journey will be different and for some, their list of what was most effective could be completely opposite. But I'd bet a dollar that for many out there struggling with depression who are low on resources, time and access to sufficient therapy, this list may help you get across the finish line in a more efficient way than I did. Never give up!!!
